Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life Could Be An Amazing Remake
In 2003, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life was released on the Nintendo Gamecube, and later in 2004 Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life was released as the female-character version of the game that brought a few bug and glitch fixes with it. Now, about 20 years later, these titles are being combined and getting a remake called Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life for the Nintendo Switch. Similarly, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town also received a remake through Story of Seasons in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch that merged both the male and female version of the game. The trailer shows that Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will certainly live up to a nostalgic remake,…

Harvest Moon Used To Be Really Amazing
The Harvest Moon video game series used to be one of my all-time favorites, and it was a series I found by accident. Way back in grade school, well before having my own source of income, the only way to really try new games was to borrow games from friends. I first heard of the Harvest Moon series from a friend who had a GameCube and she let me borrow her copy of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and after staying up and playing it all night throughout the school week and all throughout the weekend, I immediately knew I had to have it for myself. See, the cover art…

Exploring Rune Factory 4: Special
I’ve played the Harvest Moon titles since I was old enough to pick up a controller on the Nintendo 64, so I’m no stranger to the gameplay and the mechanics. Since the release of Story of Season’s 25th anniversary game was releasing soon, I wanted to find a game that I hadn’t played yet that would hold me over to its release. Rune Factory 4: Special was recommended to me by friends, and it was a pleasant, albeit unexpected and unique, surprise. Ultimately, I decided to pick it up over Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town since it looked like Marvelous really dropped the ball on their 25th anniversary…

How to Make Friends in ‘Friends of Mineral Town’
In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, your relationships are based on your interactions with villagers, nature sprites, livestock, and pets. There are actually two hidden measurements to rank your relationship with the villagers, one for normal townies while the other measurement is used for the bachelor/bachelorette. They are known as Friendship Points (FP) and Love Points (LP). To see your current relationship status, open the main menu by using the X Button on your Nintendo Switch controller, and then tab over to the Relationships Menu using the shoulder buttons. You can see your relationship with the villagers, nature sprites, livestock on your farm, and your pets. What Are…

I Tried To Kill My Chickens In ‘Friends of Mineral Town’
In a perfect world, your farm animals will never get sick or die from old age, and that’s exactly what you get in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. In the remake however, things have changed. Let me preface this by saying, in every Harvest Moon title before now, you could kill your animals by neglecting them—maybe you accidentally hit them with a tool while doing field work, or perhaps you couldn’t make it outside to feed them during a storm. In the original games, your animals could even die from old age. In fact, in Harvest Moon DS, to convince the Witch Princess to marry you, you had to…

5 Best Changes In the ‘Friends of Mineral Town’ Remake
The Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town remake has received several quality-of-life improvements, not to mention the new art-style, and most of which I can’t argue with. However, there were a few changes that stood out amongst the rest. If you’re an old fan wondering why it is now referred to as Story of Seasons, the short answer is that the newer games now go by their original Japanese title—Marvelous split from Natsume in 2014, and since Natsume owned the rights to the Harvest Moon title, the name has been changed to Story of Seasons. Some of these can be spoiler-y, so if you’re looking for a clean experience,…

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Is A Charming, Sweet Remake
I’m far from experiencing everything Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town has to offer, and I’m happy to admit that so far, it’s living up to my expectations (despite the few not-so-welcome changes). There are a significant amount of changes from the original Friends of Mineral Town (2003) released on the GameBody Advance. You return to the farm you once visited as a child to take over a neglected farm left behind by your Grandfather. You must till the land, make the land profitable, and who knows? You may find your soulmate in Mineral Town. What does that work entail? Everything a farmer typically does, including using a hoe…

The New Livestock Affection Limit In ‘Friends of Mineral Town’
Harvest Moon has come a long way, and the new Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town remake has been improved with several new features such as an abundance of new livestock (strawberry cows!), and a new system that requires players to put additional effort into raising their livestock. Choosing to reach the maximum affection limit with your livestock will increase the quality of their byproducts, and will improve your profits over time. Bear in mind, some of these can be spoiler-y. If you’re looking for a clean experience, this guide may not be right for you. Happy farming! NOTE: Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is a remake of the…
